Micheál de Mórdha of Dun Chaoin, Ireland, is the current Manager of the Great Blasket Center. He assumed that position in 1993 following a 17 year career as producer and presenter with RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta, a radio station broadcasting solely in the Irish Language. Prior to that, he was a journalist with Inniu, the Irish language newspaper and he also spent a year as administrator with Gael Linn (an Irish record label specializing in Gaelic and Irish traditional music). In 2010, he was President of Oireachtas na Gaeilge, an annual arts festival held in different cities in Ireland and which was held in Killarney that year.
He has a keen interest in Celtic Languages and works to create stronger connections with neighboring Celtic communities. He has won prizes in Oireachtas Literary Competitions and is working on a book that explores the culture of the Blasket Islanders.
